I don't think its any more against the rules than to ask for a cross-over with a fandom not listed, and I know you can do that. We did try to stress that optional requests are optional, and that everyone should give their writer lee-way, so I'm not sure I understand how its unfair to express a preference for something you know your writer is not required to provide.
