Pinch Hits, Beta, Treats & Excitement!

Thank you, doers of darkness, for your enthusiasm and participation! The deadline for assignment submissions has passed and we have so far 40 fanwork submissions (plus 2 Kaleidoscope Treats). Thanks to your help, almost all pinch hits have been claimed. We have a potential pinch hitter for Pinch Hit #5, but could use another volunteer so if you're interested, please contact us at darkadmn AT gmail DOT com or PM us at dark_administrator/darkadmn with your AO3 username (or if you don't have an account, send us your email address & we'll send you an AO3 invite for the pinch-hit claim):

Pending pinch hit submissions, Kaleidoscope will go live on October 26, 2012, 9:00 PM PDT. Speaking of, if you are -- or have -- pinch hitting for us or creating a fanwork for Kaleidoscope Treats and did not official sign-up for Kaleidoscope, please consider leaving a prompt Kaleidoscope Prompts & Treats. Hopefully, a generous doer of darkness will fulfill the prompt! We also encourage submissions for Kaleidoscope 2012 Treats from Dear Doers of Darkness letters, Kaleidoscope Fanwork Exchange 2012 Prompts or the spreadsheet of prompts!

Quick question - the 'fandoms' list on AO3 for Kaleidoscope says it has 38 fandoms, but doesn't show that many in reality - it's only showing me about 30. Do you know why this is?

Thank you for pointing that out! Skimming the list (http://archiveofourown.org/collections/kaleidoscope2012/fandoms), I noticed that it's missing at least The House of Aunts - Zen Cho and The Paper Menagerie - Ken Liu. Possibly it's an AO3 bug involving "The" at the beginning of the fandom title? We'll try to submit a request to AO3 once Kaleidoscope is live and fanworks are visible to investigate what the issue is.

I saw a note saying that if you use a new fandom tag it may take a few days to show up on AO3. That might be why? Those two definitely don't have any fic on AO3 already.

I saw that there was a mention of last minute edits in the the latter part of this post; does this mean edits to our submissions are allowed until the 26th?

Yes, edits to submissions are allowed until the 26th. We're not going to enforce any policies against doing so.
