Modly reminders about the Racebending Revenge Challenge

Depending on what time zone you are inhabiting, it is between two to three days before our Racebending Revenge Challenge goes live! So far we have three works in the collection, we do hope there will be many more before the deadline of 2nd July 2010 (Yes, we know the Avatar: the Last Airbender release date got moved up to the 1st, but we're sticking with our original date).

So please do try to keep working on all those stories you have been talking about in comments!

Do find yourself a beta! We have a post over here to request or offer beta assistance, and you can email us at darkadmn AT gmail DOT com if you really can't find anyone. We will do our best to help, but can't promise last minute miracles, so working in advance helps.

Do please consider posting your story to the Archive of Our Own collection in addition to your other journals and communities, it will make it easier for other readers to find your story. If you don't have an AO3 account, you can request a code to make one by leaving your email address in a comment to this post.
Do consider using applicable tags like "Chromatic Character", "Muslim Character", "Japanese Character" and other such racial, cultural and ethnic descriptors that might help potentials readers beyond the challenge find your story.

If your story has been written, perhaps you might want to collaborate with a fanartist to design illustrations for it: we have some discussion and offers from fanartists to peruse here, and you may wish to lure in fanartists you admire from various fandoms.

We have seen some reservations voiced about the nature of this challenge and how it fits within our goal of promoting chromatic sources and characters within fandom. After the challenge goes live, we plan to discuss some of the issues this challenge raises, and we will welcome your thoughts and reactions. For now, we ask that you consider for yourself if your fan work meets the requirement and the spirit of the challenge, and our community.

Finally, we do plan to keep the collection open to submissions beyond 2nd July 2010, so if you feel you may not make that deadline, please don't give up on what you were working on.

Quick note--I've been trying to post my story to the AO3 collection but it's been getting bounced (posted publicly, not connected to the collection, at which point I have to delete it). The AO3 collection FAQs say this is what happens to closed collections where the author hasn't been accepted by collection maintainers. I don't know if there's maybe a backlog of applications to join the collection sitting on the server there?

(Though I gave up a few days ago, planning to check back, so the issue may be all resolved by now, in which case sorry for the TL;DR!)

I neglected to backread far enough and just applied to join Dark Agenda on AO3; please ignore that and accept my apology for bothering you needlessly.

*cough* So... How does one tag a Person of Color appearing non-human? Alternate Doctor (or, for that matter, Worf or Boomer) aren't *actually* members of our human ethnic groups and yet.
