Rec post links and a rec challenge at Chromatic Visions
If you have made a rec or discussion post for fanworks coming out of the Racebending Revenge challenge, please link to it here. You are also free to make recs in comments, or start discussion threads. (We have around 35 fanworks so far, yay!)
Also,
chromaticvision over on IJ is hosting a mini-challenge for recs:
If you don't have an IJ account, you can use your Dreamwidth open account to comment to their post, linking to recs you might have made elsewhere.
Please feel free to discuss stories honestly and critically in our community space; please also remember to keep your focus on the work, and refrain from personal statements about the author.

There aren't nearly enough works about characters of color out there (at least we think so anyway!), but what is there is cause for celebration. Show us your recs featuring characters of color. The dates for posting recs are July 15th-July 31st.

Sam and Dean Winchestgopal: glockgirl continues her awesome "Sam and Dean are desi" Supernatural AU. She manages to sneak in some extra female characters too :)
Five Things People Might Have Read On The Psychic Paper (If Things Were Slightly Different) by Grey_Bard: Imagine, if you will, that the Eleventh Doctor was played by Paterson Joseph but otherwise identical. What might people see on his psychic paper?
I should get around to reccing some of the other great stories I encountered after writing that post. And all the ones I've read have been good.

Author summary: Mostly they only talk about race when Hardison's using it as a distraction. It's a method that doesn't work all of the time, even though Hardison's more careful than anyone thinks about choosing when to use it. He definitely wouldn't have tried it here. [For the Racebending Revenge challenge, rewriting Nate as black]
It does pretty much what is says on the label, and it does it very well, imo. Some of the things I like about it are the look inside of Nate's head (I don't care for the show's Nate, but I am actually interested in BlackEyedGirl's Nate) and the look at the ways the team members respond to the situation in the story (all in character, with some good insight) and especially the way Nate and Hardison get on. The way canon treats race (Hardison playing "the race card" vs. not actually showing racial discrimination) is problematic, so I am happy to see a Leverage story that is set in the real world.
I think someone who isn't familiar with canon could enjoy this story too, fwiw.

That also applies to all the Supernatural stories in the challenge so far - I am familiar with the premise of the show and the common fannish debates that hit metafandom, but have never actually seen an episode, and I enjoyed all the fic and art in the challenge.
