Hello doers of darkness, this just a quick note to let you know that for unknown reasons, Kaleidoscope and Kaleidoscope Treats 2012 AO3 Collections have reverted back to anonymous. We've submitted a support request to AO3 and, hopefully, they will look into the issue for us. Thank you for your patience and apologies for the inconveniences again!

ETA: Thanks to the AO3 team, the issue is fixed!

Hello doers of darkness, we would like to apologize again that creators were revealed early and that anonymity was spoiled for most of us. As has been updated by dhobikikutti (thank you, dhobikikutti!), anonymity has been restored thanks to the AO3 team, but recipients will have received an email notification with their assigned participant's AO3 username attached and AO3 members who subscribed to a particular creator will have received a similar email notification. We are so sorry, doers of darkness.

However, with anonymity restored, many of us would like that anonymity to remain for those of us who still don't know some of the creators' identity so we ask everyone to try our best to keep ours and other participants' super secret identity a secret (to quote one participant). :) We appreciate your help and apologize for the inconveniences!

Hello doers of darkness, Kaleidoscope and Kaleidoscope Treats 2012 are live! We made an error and creators are revealed early (anonymity since restored), but this year, we have about 56 fanworks from about ( 43 participants, including those who signed up for Kaleidoscope and submitted fanwork(s), those who created fanworks for Kaleidoscope Treats and those who pinch-hit for us. ) We are incredibly grateful for your work, doers of darkness!

When we finalized the schedule for Kaleidoscope this year, we chose October 26 as the date for Kaleidoscope to go live because your dear moderators thought it was Diwali. Unfortunately, your moderators made a mistake: Diwali is 13 November this year. However, Kaleidoscope 2012 Go Live is still dedicated to Diwali so happy early दीपावली, தீபாவளி, तिहार, दिवाली, દિવાળી, दिवाळी, ದೀಪಾವಳಿ, धाकली दिवाळी, ദീപാവലി, ଦୀପାବଳୀ, ਦਿਵਾਲੀ, దీపావళి, دیوالی and Diwali!

Doers of darkness, the deadline for Kaleidoscope assignments is October 20, 9:00 PM PDT! If you find yourself unable to finish your assignment by the deadline, you may default for any reasons by selecting the Default button under your Kaleidoscope assignment page.

In addition, we're still looking for a volunteer for Pinch Hit #4 and just posted Pinch Hit #5 at Kaleidoscope Pinch-Hits for Arctic Expeditions RPF, The Legend of Tarik - Walter Dean Myers, Night Wanderer - Drew Hayden Taylor, Noah's Arc and Truth: Red White and Black. If you're interested in pinch-hitting for one -- or both -- of these requests, please send us an email at darkadmn AT gmail DOT com or PM us at dark_administrator/darkadmn with your AO3 username (or if you don't have an account, send us your email address & we'll send you an AO3 invite for the pinch-hit claim). We hope to find pinch-hitters and receive submissions for these requests by October 26 in order for the challenge to go live so we would appreciate your help in signal-boosting!

Kaleidoscope default deadlines are fast approaching: the deadline for those creating artwork, FSTs, graphics, podfic, or vids is October 5 (PDT), while the deadline for those creating fic is October 12 (PDT). Hello, doers of darkness, as we're working on our assignments, we encourage participants to include a statement in their fanwork's notes section indicating whether they give blanket or partial permission for others to remix, translate, produce secondary fanworks and/or record podfic for their Kaleidoscope submission(s) or for their entire body of fanworks.

In addition, we would also like to compile a list of permission policy statements from participants regarding works based on the fanwork(s) they produced for Kaleidoscope and Kaleidoscope Treats as a resource for fans who may want to create such secondary fanworks.

To that end, if you would like to provide blanket or partial permission for secondary fanworks that are inspired by or based on the fanwork(s) you produce for Kaleidoscope and Kaleidoscope Treats, past, present and/or future, please comment with the following information (or link to your permission statement if you have any):
